Children’s Music Academy teaches music to children aged 3 to 18. Most of the people whose information we hold are parents and guardians, and the children they enrol.
We have written this policy to be read, not to be survived.
1Who we are
Children’s Music Academy is a trading name of London Music Teachers Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. London Music Teachers Ltd is the data controller for the information described here.

2In short
- We collect what we need to arrange and teach music lessons, and very little else.
- We do not sell your information, or your child’s, to anybody. Ever.
- We do not set any non-essential cookie until you say yes.
- You can ask us what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted.
3What we collect, and why
When you enrol a child

Gender and nationality are optional. Leave them blank if you would rather not answer — it makes no difference to your child’s place or their lessons.
When you contact us
Your name, email, and whatever you choose to write to us. We use it to answer you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
When you buy a gift voucher
Your name, email, billing address and order details. Card details are entered directly with Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation for keeping financial records.
When you visit the website
See section 6 on cookies. Nothing non-essential is collected unless you accept.
We do not ask for, and do not want, any special category data — health, religion, ethnicity — and you should not send it to us through these forms.
4Children’s information
This is a school for children, so we treat this section as the important one.
- Our contract is with the parent or guardian, not the child. Enrolment is completed by an adult, and it is that adult who gives us the child’s details.
- We collect the minimum about a child: their name, and what they are learning.
- We never market to children. No advertising is directed at pupils, and children’s information is not used to build advertising audiences or shared with advertising platforms.
- We do not create online accounts for children. The website has no pupil login.
- A parent or guardian may exercise every right in section 9 on their child’s behalf, including asking for their child’s information to be deleted.

5Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers, who process information on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

We also share information where the law requires it — for example with HMRC, or in response to a lawful request from the police or a court. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
6Cookies
When you first arrive you are asked to choose. Until you choose, this website sets no cookies at all beyond one strictly necessary security cookie from our network provider, which tells human visitors from automated ones.
- Strictly necessary — make the site work: your cookie choice, the shopping basket, and the security check. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, so we can see which pages parents actually find useful. Off unless you accept.
- Targeting — advertising measurement. We do not currently set any.
- Preferences — remember choices such as language. We do not currently set any.
Every cookie we set is listed by name, purpose and duration inside the cookie settings panel. to see the full list, or to change your mind at any time.
7Sending information outside the UK
Some of our providers are based outside the United Kingdom, or store information outside it. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires — an adequacy decision, or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. If you would like details of the safeguards for a particular provider, ask us.
8How long we keep it

9Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- be told what we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have mistakes corrected;
- have information deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including any use based on our legitimate interests;
- portability — receive certain information in a machine-readable form;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it, including for cookies. Withdrawing consent does not undo what was lawfully done beforehand.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and give us the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

10Keeping information safe
The website is served only over an encrypted connection. Access to pupil and parent records is limited to the people who need it to run the school. Payment card details never reach our systems — they go directly to Stripe.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office, as the law requires.

If we change how we use information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you directly.
